4. Comparing interlocking with concrete

Interlocking uses individual paving units; concrete creates a continuous surface with its own joint and finishing requirements. Compare the full proposed scope for each option, including preparation, drainage, appearance and future repairs.

Individual paving units can be lifted for local repairs, but the cause of settlement or water accumulation still needs attention. Do not choose solely on a surface price or an unsupported lifespan promise. Ask each contractor to explain the repair approach and workmanship terms.

5. Before you appoint an installer

Request a measured quotation and photographs of comparable work. Agree payment stages, site access, material delivery arrangements and how changes will be approved. For an occupied property, discuss access to the house and parking while the work is in progress.
