Planning a gypsum ceiling project in Lagos

Use the right board and framing system

The installer should choose board type and framing based on where the ceiling will be used. Standard boards may be suitable for many dry interior spaces, while areas exposed to higher moisture need materials designed for those conditions. Framing centres, hangers and support around openings should be set out properly before boards are fixed.

Coordinate lights, AC and access points

Gypsum ceilings are often used with recessed lights, linear lighting, diffusers and concealed services. These items should be positioned before boarding so cut-outs and supports are deliberate. Where valves, electrical joints or equipment may need future servicing, provide suitable access rather than sealing everything permanently above the ceiling.

Joint finishing determines how flat the ceiling looks

Poorly treated joints can remain visible after painting, especially under strong lighting. Ask how joints, screw heads and corners will be finished and whether primer and painting are included. On Lagos renovation sites, protect completed gypsum work from water, rough handling and other trades until the room is ready for final decoration.
