Start with a scope that can be checked

Do not rely on the service name alone when requesting interior design. Describe how each room will be used, storage needs, furniture sizes, lighting, finishes and the client’s maintenance preferences, then ask each provider to price that same scope rather than filling gaps with assumptions.

Check access and coordination before mobilisation

For interior design, the property should be checked before the working plan is treated as final. At the Kano project site, confirm existing dimensions, daylight, fixed services and which furniture or finishes must remain during the redesign and identify any area that must stay in use or be protected during the job.

Use one scope to compare different providers

When comparing interior design providers, read the written inclusions against this point: concept work, drawings, material selections, procurement responsibilities, site visits and installation supervision. A lower total is not automatically better if important preparation, transport, cleanup or making-good has been excluded.

Use completion checks, not appearance alone

A proper interior design handover should leave the customer with a usable result and a clear record. To get there, compare the finished rooms with the approved scheme and list incomplete fittings, finishes or styling items, clear the snag list and collect any maintenance or operating information that matters.
